We had a very successful trip to West Sussex on the 23rd June 2009, and the weather was very kind to us too! Although waylaid a little by coffee on arrival, accompanied by the owner of St Mary’s Bramber playing on the piano, the house and its garden were fascinating.
Shoreham-by-Sea looked almost Mediterranean with the sea a beautiful blue, and several of us met Victor Standing at its giant parish church of St Mary’s – Victor was a Bishop Wordsworth’s schoolboy, and was ordained in Salisbury Cathedral, and as a longstanding member of the Friends, was very pleased to show us around his church.
We then went on to the imposing Lancing College Chapel (left), to hear on arrival some beautiful organ music being played, surprisingly by ex Salisbury Chorister, Joe Wicks, who then popped down to say hello to us.
With good timing made by our coach driver there and back, I hope that everyone agreed that the day was as enjoyable as always.
