About Us - What Friends Do

Statue of Canon Ezra

Canon Ezra – statue funded by the Friends and installed in 2008 on the West Front, to mark the 750th Anniversary of Salisbury Cathedral

We help fund important projects in Salisbury Cathedral, and rely entirely on subscriptions, donations, bequests and income from investments to fulfill our objectives. The scale of the projects we support depends on a continuous response by the Friends - we must find new members to support this work.

To be a Friend of Salisbury Cathedral is to be part of a community of like-minded people who love and care about this ancient building and its fellowship. We link together those who want to show their support by joining in events and directly giving through subscriptions, donations and legacies.

Since their foundation in 1930, the Friends of Salisbury Cathedral have funded projects totalling over £3,000,000. Our purpose is the same now as it was then, to do all we can to preserve this wonderful building and its fellowship.
